AI for People Leaders
Lead your team through AI adoption responsibly: norms, use cases, coaching, quality and honest measurement
AI for People Leaders from the Enterprise Technology Association (ETA) is for managers, supervisors and team leads whose people are starting to use AI at work. It focuses on the people side of adoption at team level: setting norms, choosing and running use cases, coaching, protecting quality and trust, and measuring value honestly. You finish with a capstone: a 90-day AI adoption plan for your real team, submitted and reviewed by a person.
The course applies ETA's ADAPT framework (Assess, Direct, Assure, Protect, Tune) and the ETA Agent Autonomy Ladder to the everyday decisions a people leader makes. Completing it earns the ETA Specialist credential: ETA Specialist: AI for People Leaders.
What you'll learn
- Explain how AI changes your team's work and lead honest conversations about fears and hype
- Apply your organization's AI policy day to day and write a team AI working agreement covering ownership, data rules, disclosure and review
- Discover use cases with your team, assess them at team level and run a small pilot with a baseline and done criteria
- Set the autonomy rung for each action when a use case involves an AI agent
- Coach people with different comfort levels, review AI-assisted work fairly, and prevent over-reliance and deskilling
- Make AI adoption accessible and fair for your team and the people you serve
- Measure value honestly, including checking time, report results upward without hype, and handle mistakes and incidents
- Keep norms fresh as tools, policies and people change
Who it's for
Managers, supervisors and team leads in any sector (manufacturing, healthcare administration, government, professional services, education, finance, small business and more) who lead people using AI. It is not about setting enterprise AI strategy or configuring tools. It assumes you have completed Level 1: Foundations of the ETA Certified AI Empowered Professional, so you know ADAPT, the six-part brief and the ETA Agent Autonomy Ladder. Where employment law, monitoring of employees or performance management comes up, the course points you to your organization's HR and legal guidance; it is not legal advice.
Format
Four modules, about 4 hours 30 minutes in total, including about 30 minutes for the capstone. Each lesson includes workplace examples from a range of sectors, templates you can copy, and a hands-on exercise in your organization's approved AI tool (each with a no-tool option). Each module ends with a knowledge check, and the course ends with a final assessment that includes your capstone summary, graded by an ETA reviewer.
