AI Fluency: Advanced

Lead, design and govern AI use for your team

About this course

AI Fluency: Advanced from the Enterprise Technology Association (ETA) is for people who lead, design or govern AI use for a team. It builds on AI Fluency: Foundations and AI Fluency: Practitioner and moves from individual skill to team-level practice: finding the right opportunities, making AI work reliable at scale, governing it responsibly and leading people through the change.

The course applies ETA's ADAPT framework (Assess, Direct, Assure, Protect, Tune) across whole workflows and teams. It is also the home, across ETA's AI Fluency and AI Agents at Work courses, for leading change, workforce impact and job redesign, measuring value honestly, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework. You finish with a capstone: an AI-enabled workflow redesign plan for a real process, submitted and reviewed by a person.

What you'll learn

  • Map your team's work into tasks and score AI use cases on value, feasibility and risk
  • Build a balanced use-case portfolio and decide, with reasons, what must stay human
  • Redesign workflows around their real constraint, not just speed up individual tasks
  • Create evaluation rubrics and test sets, compare tools fairly, and handle errors systematically
  • Use grounding, structured outputs and review steps, including for long documents and images
  • Write a team AI policy with risk tiers, roles and clear accountability
  • Apply the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (Govern, Map, Measure, Manage)
  • Screen use cases against the main AI rules, using a dated rules snapshot reviewed every quarter
  • Run vendor due diligence and document AI use in a register
  • Lead adoption, measure value honestly, brief leadership, and plan workforce impact and job redesign

Who it's for

Team leads, managers, program and operations leaders, AI champions, and governance, risk, IT and HR professionals in any sector who are responsible for how a team uses AI. It assumes you have completed AI Fluency: Foundations and AI Fluency: Practitioner, or have equivalent experience with briefing, verifying outputs, data protection and prompt libraries. AI agents are covered in the AI Agents at Work courses.

Format

Four modules (3 credit hours), including about 45 minutes for the capstone. Each lesson includes workplace examples from a range of sectors and a hands-on exercise in your organization's approved AI tool. Each module ends with a knowledge check, and the course ends with a final assessment that includes your capstone summary, graded by an ETA reviewer. This course and AI Agents at Work: Advanced make up Level 3: Advanced of the ETA Certified AI Empowered Professional.
