AI Agents at Work: Advanced

Design, deploy and govern agent workflows for your team or organization

About this course

AI Agents at Work: Advanced is the Level 3: Advanced course of the ETA Certified AI Empowered Professional from the Enterprise Technology Association (ETA). It is for team leads, process owners and managers who design and run AI agent workflows for a team, working alongside IT. It builds on AI Agents at Work: Foundations and Practitioner, and goes further: from a single well-specified agent to agent workflows that are tested, secured, monitored and run well in production. Technical terms are defined in plain language as they come up.

Throughout the course you'll apply the ETA Agent Autonomy Ladder action by action: each action's rung is set by the most consequential thing it does without a person approving it first. You'll use ETA's ADAPT framework (Assess, Direct, Assure, Protect, Tune) to structure your decisions. The rule you'll practice in every module: climb only as high as the risk, the reversibility and your oversight allow.

What you'll learn

  • Choose processes for agents using five lenses: volume, variability, risk, reversibility and ROI
  • Design workflows with approval gates, escalation, hand-offs and, when justified, multiple agents
  • Write a production spec that extends your agent spec with ownership, triggers, a per-action rung table, logging and change control
  • Compare agent platforms on governance criteria, and decide when to configure, assemble or build
  • Build evaluation sets, define launch criteria, and monitor agents in production with logs and alerts
  • Manage agent identity and access, threat-model workflows using a shared risk vocabulary, and respond to incidents
  • Run agents day to day: ownership, an operating rhythm, evidence for changing rungs, and clean retirement

Who it's for

Team leads, operations and process owners, and managers in any sector who are responsible for agent workflows and work with IT, security and compliance colleagues. You should have completed AI Agents at Work: Practitioner or have equivalent experience with agent specs, connectors, least privilege and human checkpoints. For change management, workforce planning and ROI, pair this course with AI Fluency: Advanced.

How it works

Four modules with hands-on agent runs in your approved AI tool (each with a chat-only option), a knowledge check per module, a capstone plan for a real process that a reviewer grades against a published rubric, and a final assessment. Plan for 2 to 3 hours of capstone work outside the course time.
